Today is world #autismawareness day and I hope that this day not only brings awareness about a rapidly growing struggle, but a very personal struggle for so many parents who provide care every day for a child with autism. I had the honor of helping tutor several autistic children in high school and college and those sweet kids taught me as much as I taught them.

After the hashtag goes away and national monuments are no longer illuminated in blue, and awareness isn't trendy anymore, there will still be many families who struggle with this daily.

Just a thought- if you should feel so inclined to donate to the cause, find a local group that supports local families and donate there. Or better yet, volunteer your time and help a local mom with autistic children...it will mean the world to her!
